Route sheet 01 / connection line

Join the server.

Start by identifying Java or Bedrock. Carry your exact version and client response without turning either into a server compatibility claim.

Bearing zero / identify the client

Java and Bedrock are separate routes.

Do not paste an address until the title screen tells you which edition you are using.

Java Edition

The title screen says Java Edition, and the multiplayer screen includes Add Server. Continue below.

Bedrock Edition

Console, mobile, and the edition labeled simply Minecraft usually use Bedrock’s server interface. Read the Unknown boundary below.

Trail / Java Edition

The Java connection route.

The address and edition are first-party declarations. The supported version range is not published.

  1. Open Multiplayer.

Open Minecraft: Java Edition, then choose Multiplayer.

  2. Add the waypoint.

Choose Add Server. The display name is yours; paste betteranarchy.org into the server-address field.

  3. Attempt the connection.

Choose Done, select the entry, then choose Join Server or double-click the row.

  4. Keep the response intact.

A mismatch, timeout, or session error is evidence for a different next move. It is not one generic “down” state.

Version closure / input is not proof

Read the mismatch literally.

Supported Java versions are Unknown as of 2026-07-18.

Outdated client means the endpoint reports a newer protocol than your client. Outdated servermeans the endpoint reports an older protocol. Use a separate launcher installation that matches the response; do not overwrite a working installation or treat a guessed version as a published support range.

If the response names no target version, preserve the exact text and use the support evidence route.

Session closure / protect credentials

Repair authentication locally.

  1. Restart the launcher.

Close the game and launcher completely, reopen them, and retry once.

  2. Refresh your sign-in.

If the error persists, sign out of the launcher and authenticate again through the Microsoft account flow you already trust.

  3. Keep secrets out of reports.

Never send a password, session token, recovery code, or downloaded “verification” tool.

Other errors / interpret, then act

When the route does not open.

These are diagnostic paths, not claims about the server’s present state.

Refused / timed out
No usable response reached your client.
Check the status method, test your own connection, wait, then retry once.
Kicked / disconnected
A response ended the connection.
Keep the exact message, local time with timezone, edition, version, and retry result for support routing.
Rule or client question
The anarchy premise does not answer policy detail.
Read the dated rules reference; unpublished detail remains Unknown.

Connection is only the trailhead. Carry the first-session permit before moving through spawn.
